Chapeau to Cookie and Digger who took on the long route at the Performance Cycles Winter Mini Sportive this Sunday (8th Feb). 4900ft of climbing over 66 miles was a test for the legs and you can see from the route graphic, it was a great effort to manage all of the lumps and bumps. There were some pretty nasty steep bits the navigate, as well as a rather exciting bit of cross country style riding on the approach to Rendcomb. For those that opted for the shorter route, it was still a tough morning, with early low temperatures leading to some exciting ice patch avoidance on the great country roads west of Cirencester.
The team at Performance Cycles keep delivering great events and it’s a real bonus for us to have these regular winter routes so close to home and for such great value. The rides have really helped to add some fun and purpose to the winter riding and it’s going to be interesting to see just how much more climbing we have to take on for those signed up for the next event… warmer temperatures and dryer roads mean that it really could be very bumpy as the organisers help people prepare for their gruelling Cotswold Spring Classic, which really is just that.
