WW Weekender : 2019
September 20 - September 22
Fri 20 – Sun 22 Sep 2019
In 2018 we held our inaugural ‘Weekender’ in the Brecons to coincide with the Tour of Britain coming through. Whilst only a handful of members came along, it proved to be a great weekend with some fantastic riding.
So in 2019 we will run another weekender and we have set revised dates of Friday 20th and Sunday 22nd September.
This will be a social riding weekend on new roads for most with a stop over on the Saturday evening to enable a club social too! This should be a great weekend of club cycling.
The location for the weekender will be the New Forest with a plan to take the ferry across to Isle of Wight on Saturday for a lap of the island. More information relating to itinerary and accommodation will be confirmed once we have a clear idea on numbers, but the format for the weekend will be as follows:
Drive down to the weekend base. Expect to arrive early evening and check into the accommodation. Grab some dinner with the rest of the team and run through the plan for the following day. If you cannot travel down on Friday, it’s still possible to come along but please be aware this will require an early start to ensure you get down to meet the rest of the team to depart the accommodation between 8:30 – 9:00am.
Following breakfast, we’ll depart with a short ride to the ferry port at Lymington for the crossing to the Isle, landing in Yarmouth from where we will ride a full circuit taking in a cafe stop and a nice lunch before returning via ferry to Lymington. Expect to arrive back at base late afternoon. Saturday evening will be a social affair with refuelling.
Following breakfast, we’ll head out on a ride in the New Forest which is likely to be circa 75-100km with some rolling terrain, punctuated with a cafe stop. Return to base for drive back home mid afternoon, arriving back late afternoon.
Members will be encouraged to buddy up and travel together.
